Weekend knitting and other fun things to do…

Today was Pupil Free day at out school so we headed off to the beach for a long weekend. This, being our last days of Summer, we were hoping for some sun, surf and ice cream weather…not so.

I got some knitting done during the drive…..

and after…

Is it crazy to take knitting to the beach? To a long, relaxing weekend away?

Well, I tell you what. I have come to the realisation that a holiday with kids is not a time to kick back and relax, read a book and get a mid afternoon nap….at least not in my family. Starting with a dodgy blow-up mattress in a noisy caravan park….(there goes a restful night sleep). Our kids slept blissfully and were on 100%, all day. There was a 2 hour walk along the beach, a swim, jumping on the trampoline, and a stint at the pool….all three were still bouncing. Without sugar….while we were  exhausted and longing for an early night. Pathetic, right?

Nevertheless, it was great to be out in the open, breathing in ocean air and not having to cook a meal. The kids had a ball and I got to knit a few rows….sporadically.

And now I have a little secret to share with you….

If you ever find yourself on the proximity of the Great Ocean Road and feel like a really awesome burger, there is ONE place you must try. The Bottle of Milk in Lorne. They make THE best burger combos, best organic buns, best chips and…..its cash only….

Take a bite...

I am not much into burgers, but these taste great, are juicy and crunchy and a great weekend meal. The boys agreed.

So there you go. That was our weekend. How was yours?

This week I am hoping to conquer that pile of washing, mop some floors and get rid of some spider webs. Finish my second Tiny Tea Leaves in Abuelita Yarn, sew a top for Emilia out of the Oliver & S Interlock Knit and get some early nights wool for a cardi for myself…

What are your goals for this week?

Alex.
